Brad CaswellBrad Caswell portrait

CoFounder & President
Acadia Squam Group

Brad loves teaching and problem-solving. For a dozen years he was the Chief Operating Officer of Vanguard Charitable, a leading national donor-advised fund. His engaged and talented teams managed a wide variety of operational activities, from assisting donors with asset contributions to completing grantee organization due diligence within IRS regulations and norms to measuring and improving process performance and the donor experience. Before joining Vanguard Charitable, Brad worked with nonprofits to think creatively about accepting contributions of “complex” assets while continuing to keep risk and liability at top of mind.

CoFounder & Senior Partner
Acadia Squam Group

Ben has spent almost 30 years in leadership roles in the philanthropic sector. Most prominently he was the founding President of Vanguard Charitable. He helped launch it in 1998, led the charity thru its formative years, and then grew it into one of the most prominent DAFs in the country. As President of VC, Ben was responsible for all facets of the charity: donor cultivation, technology, team development, marketing, financials, governance, service, regulations, investments, etc. Upon his retirement after seventeen years as President, the charity stewarded over $5 billion in philanthropic assets, while simultaneously having granted away over $5 billion to other charities around the country during his tenure.

About Acadia Squam Group

Two years ago, Brad and Ben, created an independent philanthropic consulting practice, Acadia Squam Group (ASG) (www.acadiasquam.com), specializing in educating and informing various audiences about all facets of DAFs. From the most sophisticated donor to the smallest charities, the partners enjoy sharing all they know about the DAF sector, how a DAF works, the DAF regulatory environment, and key things for charities to know and do in cultivating DAF moneys. Brad and Ben are more than happy to answer any questions on DAFs and share the unvarnished inside story about these still fast-growing philanthropic giving tools.
