All organizations are under pressure to grow their annual funds to support general operations. But in today»s environment, this is an uphill battle. Learn how to grow your annual fund by including tactics and conversations typically reserved for the planned giving program. We»ll also cover how both programs can generate more funds by working together.

In his nearly 25 years of frontline fundraising and managing frontline fundraisers, Greg has served in various leadership positions including Associate VP, Development/Chief Development Officer for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, Director of Leadership Gifts and Planned Giving at Muhlenberg College, Senior Director of Individual Giving at East Stroudsburg University Foundation, Director of Development for Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great, and multiple assignments with the Boy Scouts of America.
Greg has served in various capacities across a number of capital and comprehensive campaigns. He»s led or been instrumental in planning and providing infrastructure for campaigns ranging from $10M to $100M+. He»s most proud of helping campaigns already in progress reach the finish line and overachieve their goals.
He is a certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) from the American College of Financial Services, a MS in nonprofit management from Eastern University and a BA in history from Lebanon Valley College. You»ve probably also seen Greg in various Planned Giving Marketing YouTube videos focused on practical planned giving advice or speaking in-person across the U.S. at events for Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters or Planned Giving Councils.

Drawing on case studies from Charity Navigator»s Frequent Navigator and Flagship Loyalty Society programs, attendees will gain insights on fostering donor affinity and engagement to nurture long-term support.

Kevin Scally is an award-winning, results-driven marketing and development professional with an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the nonprofit sector. His digital marketing and fundraising expertise has resulted in unprecedented growth in reach and engagement, seven-figure grants, and transformational changes to organizational infrastructure and processes at world-renowned nonprofits.
Kevin is currently responsible for building the Charity Navigator brand, creating awareness and advocacy, and increasing support for the organization through all channels. Prior to joining Charity Navigator, Kevin oversaw marketing technology and the strategic use of data at Smile Train, the world»s largest cleft charity. Kevin earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in communication from Monmouth University.
In his free time, Kevin spends quality time with his wife and their three dogs and enjoys collecting and restoring arcade cabinets and video game consoles

Beth Delaney, MSW, MS

Beth Delaney, Director of Gift Planning at the University of Pennsylvania, has 15 years» experience soliciting and closing planned gifts (small bequests up to $4M) as well as outright gifts (up to $1M). She has an additional 20+ years» experience as a frontline fundraiser, grantwriter and member of senior staff. She continues a consulting practice specializing in strategic planning, board training and evaluation.
Beth earned a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Social Work from Temple University, and a Bachelors in Communication Arts from Villanova University. She has served on the boards of CARIE (Center for Advocates for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly) and a private grade school in suburban Philadelphia. Beth is an elected committeeperson in Philadelphia»s 21st Ward, and volunteers with Project HOME, Mercy Associates, local foodbanks, her church and other nonprofits.
Choosing Goals and Inspiring Change in The Salvation Army Eastern USA Gift Planning Program
The Salvation Army, Eastern US Territory, is a church and social service organization with 42,000 members that touches 4 million individuals with critical services like food, shelter, education, and a path out of poverty. Gift planning income and endowment from planned gifts contribute nearly a quarter of its current funding.
Dr. Scott Janney leads the team of 16 professionals who are on their way toward growing their production of new commitments from $50 million to $100 million per year by 2027. This presentation delves into three key changes driving the first half of this journey and explores his three leadership principles for guiding the team.

The Salvation Army
Dr. Scott Janney is the Territorial Director of Gift Planning for The Salvation Army Eastern USA Territory, supervising 28 fundraisers and staff who raise $75 Million in Gift Planning Production each year. He has led planned &/or major giving and as chief development officer in Higher Education, Healthcare, and Social Services.
Scott has given ten presentations at the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP) two at National Christian Leadership Alliance Conferences (CLA), as well as numerous national and regional presentations for other organizations, published more than 20 articles in national periodicals, and contributed to many books and pocket guides.
He served on the Board of the NACGP and as President of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia. Scott earned his doctorate in educational administration from Temple University, his master of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and his bachelor»s from Asbury University.

Samuel B. Young, ESQ-LSW, is currently the Managing Director of Planned Giving and Strategic Advisor for Compassion & Choices, America’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to improving care, expanding options, and empowering everyone to chart their end-of-life journey. In this role, Sam is responsible for administrating, managing, and developing the national planned giving program, focusing on taxwise giving strategies and financial/estate planning alternatives. His mantra is that our end-of-life planning includes financial and estate planning.
He began his career practicing law in Texas and New York. He then transitioned to nonprofits, wanting to give back to his community. Previously, Sam was the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest New Jersey and had senior development roles at the Wildlife Conservation Society, Einstein College of Medicine, and Bancroft Special Needs School. Sam holds a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, a Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Communications from The University of Texas at Austin. He is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Washington, D.C. He is also an NJ Licensed Social Worker. Sam also served as the 2nd Vice President of the NASW-NJ Chapter and is currently the Treasurer of AFP-NJ. Sam resides in Manalapan, New Jersey, with his wife, Debbie, twin 14-year-old sons, and an English Cream Golden Retriever named Layla.
